Last Kiwanis Barbecue of the Season

October 20th, 21st, & 22nd is the last barbecue of the season for the Kiwanis Club of Wood River Township.  Please make the effort to come down and enjoy some of the finest barbecue in the Metro East, at the former Hutton Ford Body Shop location,1368 Illinois 111 in Wood River.

Since this is the last barbecue of the season, be sure to come down and stock up.  Pick up several 1 lb containers of pork, they freeze and microwave exceptionally well.  My personal favorite is to buy a whole cooked roast.  These can be quartered or halved, frozen, and then reheated in a crock pot for a tasty fall or winter meal.  Be sure to pick up a bottle or two of sauce.  Not only will it improve your barbecue experience, but it will spice up your chili, vegetable soup, and even bloody marys.

Come out and enjoy some great barbecue and help support needy children.  Here's an Alton Telegraph article demonstrating what Kiwanis does with its fundraising efforts.

Thank you to Our Dedicated Patrons

Thank you to the fantastic patrons of the Kiwanis Barbecue. For the first time in Club history, we sold out of over 3800 lbs of pork by 5:30 Friday evening.  Thus, the scheduled last day of the barbecue, we didn't open.  The Kiwanis Club of Wood River Township extends a profound thanks to such wonderful customers.  Your donations will help many children in the upcoming year.

See you at the next barbecue, June 2nd, 3rd, & 4th.
